An Ideal Age Gap for Marriage

This is a debatable topic, As it’s not just in India but across the world where the age gap is given utmost importance when it comes to marriage.

In general, the age gap of 3-5 years is considered as an ideal age gap for marriage. If we go by biology, men mature later than women and therefore need time to be able to shoulder the responsibilities of the family. This has been one of the major reasons for choosing an older guy. However, for ambitious, career-oriented girls, it is advised not to delay the marriage, beyond limits. As it might become a problem in relation to their biological clock. Moreover, even if the guy is younger than the girl, the age gap should not be too great.

However, in the fast-paced modern world, the thought process of people are changing. The age difference in marriage, which used to be a big issue in the earlier times, now does not seem to be much of an issue.

There are a number of reasons, such as women empowerment, societal advancement and bold sexual preferences etc, responsible for the prevalent phenomena in which age difference between couples has ceased to be an issue. On one hand, we see an age difference of hardly a few months, one the other, there is 10-15 years age gap. However, the consequences of the alterations in the marriage and lifestyle norms can actually disfigure the whole system.

And as per our opinion, there is no definite number that one can think of, for an ideal age gap for marriage, it usually depends on mutual compatibility and understanding. Women tend to mature a little early in a country like India as they are taught to be responsible, graceful, dependable and to be affectionate and nice to others since childhood. So, under normal circumstances, if the girl is a few years younger it’s fine. Having said that if you really like someone and you both have great chemistry then age should be the last thing to worry about.
