As husbands, you\u2019ve probably all had those \u201cI just don\u2019t understand my wife\u201d moments. \u00a0And no matter how great your\u00a0marriage\u00a0is right now, the truth is you can always improve how you show love and affection<\/a> to your wives.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Many\ntimes you may be asking the question: \u201cWhat did I do wrong?\u201d But what if the\nproblem isn\u2019t something you did, but something you didn\u2019t do? Sometimes it is\nwhat is lacking that causes the biggest issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And many times you just go apologize to her not even knowing what you did wrong? Isn\u2019t it? Sometimes you apologize not because you did certain thing wrong but because you did not do something right.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This\none is for all the husbands who want to have a better marriage. So whether this\nis a good refresher for some of you, or totally new news for others, here are\nfew things you\u2019re not doing for your wife and should be:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Continue pursuing her<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\nis helpful to realize that men are more achievement focused whereas women are\nmore relationship focused. As husbands, you can\u2019t view marrying your bride as\nthe crowning achievement of the dating season and then just stop wooing her.\nThe last thing you want to convey to your wife is that your romantic efforts\nduring dating were solely to get her to marry you. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Your\nwife desires for you to be captivated by her and pursue her for life. She wants\nto know that she is a beauty worth pursuing, not someone who has been pursued,\n\u201cconquered,\u201d and is now common and ordinary. Make her feel wanted. Plan\nsurprise date nights. Buy her flowers. Write tender and loving notes\/cards. If you\nwant your marriage to be healthy and growing, then you must continue to date\nand pursue your wife.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Listen to what she says and have meaningful conversations with her<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

There\nis a difference between acknowledging that your wife is talking and actually\nhearing and understanding. To actively listen means to repeat back to her what\nyou hear her saying. Empathize and validate her feelings. Be patient to let her\nfinish sharing her feelings before you butt in. To do this, put your phone out\nof sight, turn off the TV, face each other, and lean into the conversation.\nTruly listening to your wife is a way to value and respect her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Talk to her like you did before marrying her<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\nkind of \u201ctalking\u201d we are referring to is more than just the exchange of\ninformation and words with your wife. It\u2019s way deeper than that. Husbands,\nwhether you like it or not, your wives desire for you to talk and share things\nfrom the heart with them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So\ninstead of just always reporting the facts to your wife and leaving it at that,\nstrive for deeper conversation. Open up to your wife and let her know how you\nare feeling, what you are happy about, what is frustrating you, etc. Don\u2019t\nforget to ask your wife the same questions in return and watch your\nconversation go to a whole new level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Praying for her<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

If\nyou aren\u2019t praying for your wife, then who is and who will?  Husbands are to love, cherish and protect their\nwives and praying for them is one of the greatest ways to do that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After\nthat deep, intimate conversation that we mentioned in point 3, offer to pray\nwith her in person about whatever is on her heart. Pray for grace in the busy\nseasons, wisdom when she doesn\u2019t know what to do, and patience when the kids\nare about to drive her crazy. It\u2019s amazing the level of intimacy praying for\nwife adds to your marriage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Admire and cherish her always<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Your\nwife needs to hear you say \u201cI love you\u201d often. There shouldn\u2019t be any limit to\nthis. Providing for her, protecting her, and doing nice things for her are kind\nand a way to say \u201cI love you\u201d, but nothing cherishes your wife like you saying\nit (and meaning it).In the morning when you wake up or before you head out the\ndoor for work, say \u201cI love you.\u201d When she gets dressed in the morning, say\n\u201cYou\u2019re beautiful.\u201d In the middle of your day, give your wife a call or text\nher to let her know that you were thinking of her and that you love her. It\u2019s\nreally quite simple, yet can have profound results in your relationship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You\ncan really become a better husband if you work at it and focus on the right\nthings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
